The 61st Annual Daytona 500 race runs Feb. 17 in Dayton Beach. Sun, sand and revving engines. It’s all here!

The Kennedy Space Center on the Atlantic Coast is well worth checking out.  There is supposed to be a rocket launch in January.  The website with all the info is www.kennedyspacecenter.com  On your way there, have a look around Titusville. They have some great antique shopping there: Five Katz Antiques (our favourite), Wildwood Antique Mall, Dusty Rose Antique Mall – and a few other places.

Spring Training for the Blue Jays starts in Dunedin Feb 23 and you can download spring training schedules for the Jays and the other 15 Major League Teams based in Florida by visiting www.springtrainingconnection.com

The Toronto Maple Leafs play the Tampa Bay Lightning in Tampa Jan 17 and Mar 11 and play the Florida Panthers in Sunrise Florida Jan18 and Mar 25, or take in the Toronto Raptors playing The Miami Heat Mar 10 in Miami.

If you have ever enjoyed the works of Louis Comfort Tiffany or American art pottery, a visit to the Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art will leave you amazed. It’s located in Winter Park (Orlando) at 445 N Park Ave. Winter Park Fl 32789. www.morsemuseum.org

Birding enthusiast will be interested in the 22nd Annual Space Coast Birding and Wildlife Festival Jan 23-28 at Eastern Florida State College in Titusville. The college is located beside the beautiful “Chain of Lakes” park where you will see a wonderful variety of birds and Florida scenery. Watch out for the alligators (seriously). www.scbwf.org

A great web-site for Snowbirds is www.visitflorida.com where you can click on the “Things to Do” link or choose “Places to Go.” From there you can find events and attractions to visit that are close the specific area where you are staying.
